A New Year A New Me!
As we start another new year and a new decade it is time for me to reflect on what worked and what didn't last year in my life and my business. As any of you who know me well know I like to think I'm superwoman and can do it all. Manage 4 kids, work full time in a high stress job, do all the bookwork for 3 businesses, run a photography business, and still be a supportive wife. Well I tried and gave myself anxiety attacks in the process! I realize you can do everything, but you can't do it all well. So I've had to step back and take a good look at what I need for me and my family to be happy and gain some balance in our lives. I have really thought about what kind of photography I want to do and what makes me the happiest and I have to say hands down it is working with my little ones! So that being said I have made a few changes to my business model. I will no longer be doing weddings. I have enjoyed the weddings I have done over the last few years, but they do come with a lot of stress! There are no do overs with weddings. There is also a lot of editing involved after the fact and they tend to happen in the summer which is also our busiest time on the farm So in order to regain some sanity I have to let that part of my business go. Easter sessions and Christmas sessions will still be here as they are two of my favourite times of year. I will also continue to do family sessions, but will be cutting down on the number of sessions in the summer months. Maternity, newborn and cake smash sessions will also continue. I will be limiting the number of sessions I do per month to a more reasonable level than in previous years. Hopefully with a more balanced life I have time to let more creative juices flow. I have a few projects in mind that I would like to do in the next 12 months. I want to thank every one of my clients for their continued support over the last few years. I can't tell you how it makes me feel to have you come back year after year. I look forward to working with you all in 2020. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
