April Showers

Well we have survived another quarantine month. We have washed our hands till they are ready to fall off, but we will survive. As parents I think we have become stronger. We are now teachers, full time caregivers, best friends, bread winners, and parents all in one. I don't know about anyone else but I am exhausted!! Trying to be everything to all people is a lot to ask. I think we are settling into this new normal though. We have the daily homework fights, field trips to the bush to find some flowers and wildlife, and general learning of new skills. On the farm there is no shortage of things to do and learn. The kids are now skilled in doing chores, driving tractor, mowing lawn, and the ever popular picking of stones. Lol. While I may go crazy somedays with not having 2 seconds to myself, this has not been all bad. We are spending more time with the kids and getting to laugh with them more. We are getting to teach them things they would never learn in school, but need to learn to function in the real world (like how to do online banking!) We may miss seeing friends and family, but I do send more emails and make more phone calls to keep in touch. We are saving money not driving everywhere...however we are spending any savings on groceries with the kids being home all the time. Who knew kids could eat that much!!! Lol. I think we are learning to appreciate the little things more. We sit and listen to the birds chirp. We take time to play with the cats and laugh at their antics. We play more and have campfires and talk to each other. Yes our lives have changed, but it is not all bad. I hope all of you are taking time to destress and appreciate the little things we have in life. This pandemic has proven that we are all stronger than we thought and we can get through anything.
